Our Initiatives
Environmental stewardship is part of the corporate culture. Employees
at all levels are involved in making our hotel environmentally accountable
while providing quality service. Environmental committees are made up
of employees from a variety of operational areas that investigate ways
to reduce the hotel's impact on the environment. The teams assist by
evaluating environmentally friendly products and promote recycling,
towel and laundry programs with our guests. We have implemented various
environmental initiatives that include installation of energy efficient
lighting, improved waste management practices and reduced water and
energy consumption programs
CHIP Hospitality was the first hotel chain in Canada to have all its
hotel properties receive a national eco-friendly certification under
the Hotel Association of Canada's Green Leaf program. To learn more

The Citadel Halifax Hotel is committed to conducting business in a
manner that assists in preserving and protecting our environment.
We believe that environmental stewardship is good for our planet,
good for our people, and good for our business, and, as such, dedicate
ourselves to being environmental leaders within the hospitality industry.
"Hotel with a Heart"
Friends in Need Program
The "Friends In Need" program is a national initiative of
CHIP Hospitality. Thirty-six hotels in 29 cities across Canada participate
in this annual campaign to raise money for local charities working with
the homeless and those most in need in our society.
The Citadel Halifax Hotel is proud to support CHIP Hospitality’s "Friends
in Need" program each holiday season by providing friends and family
with rates as low as $49.00 for specific dates each December. The Citadel
Halifax Hotel donates $10 per room sold to a local charity.
Annual Toy Drive
The Citadel Halifax Hotel employees support the local Salvation Army
Angel Tree Program each year by purchasing hundreds of gifts to ensure
that underprivileged children in our area receive a gift a Christmas.
