| When in Halifax I like to stay at the Citadel because it is close to the downtown, and within easy access of the major routes in and out of the city. And then there's the hotel itself. The rooms are comfortable, it has good parking and great facilities. The staff is terrific. They make me feel the Citadel is my home away from home.

Our History
The Hotel, originally built in 1963, was operated as a Motor Inn with 98 guestrooms. In 1974 the first major renovations occurred with the addition of the Executive Tower section comprised of another 98 guestrooms. In 1980, three more floors were built onto the original section of the hotel, adding another seventy-one rooms. The latest renovations were completed in the winter of 2000/2001 and included the opening of the botaniCa Restaurant and Lounge.
Today the hotel offers 267 comfortable, well-appointed guestrooms and suites, an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, children's wading pool, patio sun deck, fitness area, restaurant, lounge and over 7,000 sq.ft. of meeting space.
The Citadel Halifax Hotel is owned and managed by CHIP Hospitality, a subsidiary of Canadian Hotel Income Properties Real Estate Investment Trust. Chip REIT is publicly traded and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange ("HOT.UN").
