Our People

Michael Silvester joined the Citadel Halifax Hotel as our Executive Chef in 2004. More recently, he expanded his role to also include Director of Food and Beverage. Michael was born in British Columbia and trained in Ontario. His passion for cooking first developed while working in his family's food business. Just prior to joining our team, Michael honed his culinary skills at such fine hotel establishments as Langdon Hall Country House Hotel and Spa in Cambridge, Ontario and the Intercontinental Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. For some time, Michael has wanted to more fully explore a culinary area he describes as "Canadian Coastal Cuisine". What better place to do so than in beautiful Halifax?
